Annual Meeting Recap

On Saturday, January 12, 2013, the Board of Directors and Members of the Racing History Preservation Group (RHPG) packed the Thompson Speedway Clubhouse for the Group’s annual Open Meeting.

A motion to seek land and a structure the Group would own as an interim step toward occupying a portion of a new building to built at New Hampshire Motor Speedway received a unanimous positive vote. The idea is to acquire land and a building, hopefully by donation, in which to begin to assemble a collection of cars, helmets, trophies, photographs, books and memorabilia which would display as much of the history of Northeast motorsports as would fit in the building which would be open to the public.

The group made clear that its desire is to have the structure as close to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway as possible.

We are able to accept donations of cars, helmets, photos, books, magazines, trophies and the like at this time. Donations will be stored in a facility generously loaned to us by Ron Bouchard.

We believe recent governmental Fiscal Cliff legislation left largely intact the tax benefits of making donations to registered non-profits such as the RHPG. As such, we believe the donation of land, a building, vehicles and artifacts continue to offer certain tax advantages to donors but urge donors to seek professional advice on tax matters.
