HONORING JOEY

 HONORING JOEY

Friday night’s dinner honoring Joey Logano sold out a week before the event. Harts catered and provided an excellent meal. The line-up of speakers included Walt Czarniecki (Penske’s Executive VP), Ryan Preece (2013 NASCAR Whelen Modified champion), Todd Gordon (Joey’s Crew Chief), Coleman Pressley (A live-long friend of Joey’s who absolutely brought the house down with his stories) with clean-up from the star of the show, Joey Logano. Dick Berggren served as Emcee.

Joey made clear that NHMS is his favorite track since he made his first Cup start here, won his first Cup race here and is warmly greeted by the track’s fans. The museum presented Joey with a plaque commemorating the evening. A duplicate plaque will permanently reside in the museum.

In his remarks, Joey offered to loan the car he won the fall 2018 Martinsville race with, the same car that provided the controversial finish involving Martin Truex. “It’s not cleaned-up,” Joey said, “and the front bumper is a bit bent.” We asked that the car be delivered exactly as it finished the race. That win was pivotal to Joey’s 2018  Cup Championship.

A big thank-you to Tom Netishen and the many volunteers (especially Bob Bianchi and “Tall” Steve Locke) who caused the evening to come off smoothly.
