COUNTRY GIRL FUNNY CAR RETURNS
The Country Girl alcohol fueled funny car will be on display for the 2023 season at the museum in memory of its driver Rodalyn Knox who passed away on July 2nd 2022. The restored duster bodied BB/FC was driven by Knox up and down the east coast in 1976 and 1977. It was sold in late 1977 to make room for a nitromethane-fueled replacement. A friend, Reggie Bernier located the neglected body behind a northern Maine garage. A two-year restoration was completed in 2004 by husband John Knox, Chris Skirkey and many friends. Paint job was completed by Blair Smith and lettering was completed by Kenny Reed both in 1976 and 2004. John Knox is pictured with the car at the New England Racing Museum upon its return. The museum remains open every Saturday throughout the winter from 10am to 4pm with last tickets sold at 3pm. Mike Bradford Photo Back |
