LOGANO & GRAVEL, NEW ENGLAND CHAMPIONS

Two New England race car drivers have won major 2024 national championships, David Gravel in the top American sprint car series, the World of Outlaws, and Joey Logano in NASCAR’s top stock car series..

Middletown, Connecticut native Logano arrived at NASCAR as a kid with the nickname, “Sliced Bread” as in the best thing next to sliced bread. He came through a 10-month, 36-race 2024 season, narrowly making the final race as one of just four contenders with a chance to become champion. Logano endured a setback in the race when his car failed to pass post-qualifying inspection, putting him in a penalty pit stall. His jackman fell ill and the team rushed in a back-up. Logano drove brilliantly, particularly on the final restart when he passed five cars in two laps, some high and some low, and soon was leading. Challenged by teammate Ryan Blaney, Logano led over one-third of the race. It was Logano’s third championship in the series..

David Gravel won the World of Outlaws 2024 Sprint Car Championship. It was his first Outlaw Series championship but it surely won’t be his last. It was earned with 15 wins and 43 top-5 finishes in 65 starts in 2024. Racing in this series involves thousand miles of travel, hundreds of nights in hotels far from home and driving dangerous cars that can become involved in frightening flips..

The Watertown, Connecticut native has won 103 Outlaw races in his career in the series. Gravel has a deserved reputation as a gentleman who always finds time for fans and is well liked by those he races against and fans.
